The following post by William Rivers Pitt, came prior to the decision by NFL
owners to penalize players who do not "respect" the American Flag during
opening ceremonies at games. Donald Trump added his endorsement to this brave
decision by saying any player who does not respect our flag should be thrown
out of the game.
It's interesting how the same people appear through different eyes.
Remember back in 1776? The Patriots were coming out on the field to play hard
ball. King George demanded respect for the British Crown and called anyone who
did not do so, Traitors. But the local fans called those same Patriots,
Heroes. Now that was some game! The stakes were far higher than those of an
NFL Super Bowl. Winner take all! If the Patriots lost, Death.

the whole wide world, but no one said anything about it?

On Tuesday, reporters from The Associated Press, Politico and other outlets
were barred from attending an EPA event on water pollution that had welcomed
representatives from some of the worst polluters in industry. Ellen Knickmeyer,
an AP reporter, was shoved by an EPA security guard when she tried to gain
entry. On Wednesday, reporters were again barred from attending the event.
Also on Wednesday, the White House attempted to exclude Democrats from
attending a Thursday meeting with Department of Justice officials over Donald
Trump’s wild accusation that the FBI planted spies in his 2016 campaign. Even
having this meeting sets a filthy precedent, and brings us one step closer to
Trump turning the Justice Department into his vassal. Now they’ve made the
meeting a partisan affair.
This is brazen fascism, friends, and it’s getting the Oh-That-Trump treatment
from the same corporate media who just had the door slammed in their faces.
Look behind you: We passed “Dangerous” a long time ago, and are now entering
truly unexplored territory.
