Kd7 Black recognizes the danger and steps the king up to d7 to avoid the check, White exchanges Queens on f6, 2. Qxf6 Nxf6 and when Black recaptures with his Knight, from g8, 3. Bg7 the Bishop forks the Knight and Rook, winning the Knight on f6 and threatening the Knight on e5. If the Black Queen captures the Bishop, 1. . Qxh6 2. Qxh8 and White has traded a Bishop for a Rook.
