Hello Richard and all, The non-appearance of myself for this event is neither an oversight on my part, nor is it a lack of interest. I have for the last 18 months or so been involved in a personal project, which I feel is not making sufficient progress. If this project, which I would prefer not to reveal until it is actually a reality, is to achieve completion, then I must work much harder on it than I have since it started. I therefore decided not to enter the Fall-Winter Event, and instead give more time to my project. This might seem a little mystifying to some of you, who make moves in about 10 or 15 minutes reflection. My style of play is, if the time is available to me, then I shall try to make good use of it. Wry smiles from some of the UK-based members. Consequently, the project was always being put aside simply because another move is in my in-box. I hope the next 6 months will take the project close to completion, allowing more chess about April or so. Those areas in which I contribute such as WAC Problems, GBCC Skype Meetings and Spoken Thought Games, will continue, as these are not placing daily demands for action. Is it possible to be suspended on the Ladder? In effect the equivalent of a 6 month vacation or so? If so, then place me in suspension. If this is not possible, then I choose to withdraw from the Ladder until my project is over, after which I shall return. Paul Benson. -----Original Message----- From: R Dinger - Email Address: rrdinger@xxxxxxxxxx Sent On: 20/09/2013 02:48 Sent To: chess - Email Address: blind-chess@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [blind-chess] Last call for Fall-Winter Tournament Hello Chess Players, So far we have the following 12 players in our Fall-Winter Chess tournament: Sign Up Order 1 Edward Zolotarevsky 2 Lewis Wallach 3 Stephen Hilton 4 Alvin Blazik 5 Curtis Cockayne 6 Lucy Jensen 7 Peter Feysa 8 Jeffrey Turner 9 Voldi Gailans 10 Stan Lovell 11 Phil Haaland 12 Stephen Thacker Because of our Quad grouping, we need four more to have a fourth tournament division. I will play if only three more sign up. Players will be organized into divisions of four players with similar rating. You will play six games, once as White and once as Black against each of the three other players in your division. Players will be accepted by lots of four in the order they apply. The tournament will run from October 1 through April 15. Each round will begin no later than the first of each month. Games may start early, but only if both players agree. On average a game lasts about three weeks, so you normally will only have one game at a time. The deadline for entering is September 25, 2013. The tournament is open to all blind players and we normally have players from the US, Canada and the UK entered.
