I don't know whether this is helpful for anybody, but when you go to the freelists site now, and click on rss, it gives you the option to have it delivered as an rss in several formats already, one of which being to your mailbox. That's already in place and it's simple to use. A blog is another good idea, but the audio captchas for google and yahoo are sometimes intimidating for people, I think.
