I've been doing everything, i.e., right and left margins--was never positively
sure what to do about first line indent, but they've been ok; I'll Remember to
use .2 if I have to make changes. I'll make the line spacing 12 pt. I wasn't
sure what's best for member readers. I suppose I should have looked in the
manual. Thank you.

Cindy, this is taken from the volunteer manual on proofing with MS
Word. It says not to do it for books with tables, but I'm not sure what
it does to tables, or what to do if the book contains tables. Judy
wrote this up, and may have the answer for what to do about books that
contain tables. The line spacing is toward the end of this step.
12. Standardize paragraph format (this step is for
books
that do not contains tables).
Select all text with a control a (hold down the
control key
while tapping the a key
once)
Under your version of Word's paragraph formatting
menu, set
the indents and spacing
as follows:
Alignment: left or justified (either choice is
acceptable)
Indentation left: zero
Indentation right: zero
First line indent: by: 0.2 (chose a number from
0.2 to 0.5. for
best results.)
Spacing before paragraphs: zero
Spacing after paragraphs: zero
Line spacing: at least 12 point
