Hi Cindy,You are right in theory. Kids should have proper examples to follow. However, again, no matter whether you indent, put in five spaces, or skip lines, Bookshare's processing tools will strip any of that. If kids are using daisy readers, I am pretty sure that either blank lines will be inserted between paragraphs, or the paragraphs will be indented. One or the other will be selected automatically. But still, what you do makes absolutely no difference. Your tabs, spaces, and blank lines will be stripped. The best that we can hope for is that the daisy readers indent by default.
If you want anything else to be standard procedure, you will need to take it up with Bookshare's engineering staff. And anything you do inregard to inserting tabs or blank lines is purely for your own peace of mind.

I know we recently had a discussion about whether indenting paragraphs was necessary, and I learned that it really isn't because the reader can do the indenting if he/she wants, or skip lines between paragraphs if he/she wants. All that is necessary for me as the validator to do is to hit return and thus create the new paragraph symbol. That certainly saves time and effort, but as I proceed gayly along validating this book for young adults without indenting paragraphs,m I'm wondering--what are they learning? For school-age children from K - high school, shouldn't I be indenting so that they learn how to write in paragraphs? If they write compositions or term papers without paragraphs indented and say that the books they've been reading (from bookshare)are written that way...? Please advise me ASAP.
