Dear Bookshare volunteers, I just started validating a book where the synopsis and list of books by the author are the first pages before the title page. Should I move them to the end of the book? I assume that the symopsis is from the book jacket but it is not labeled so. Also, while beginning to read the book on my BrailleNote, I noticed a profuse number of format markers. I am not sure what needs to be ignored and what needs to be fixed. For example, one line reads $fm $i $fm $fm $fm (I believe $fm means format marker and $i means indent). These marks usually occur before quotations, but this is not consistent. $c is sometimes on a line with no text. I should probably leave all of the bold and italic marks though they sometimes enclose words or phrases that don't seem as if they need emphasis. Do scanners sometimes insert extra bold or italics marks? Some lines have $r (right justify) and others usually at the beginning of a page have $t I with a number (I presume this has something to do with tabs). When editing in Microsoft Word, some of the formatting marks are not apparent except when pressing insert f in Jaws. Is there any way to Get Jaws to announce manual page breaks in Word? What should margins be justified to or does this matter? I am sorry for asking all of these questions. I did read the post from a few weeks ago about Mary Rene's process for proofreading and found it to be helpful. Chanelle
