Hi Cindy,
Of course they can be converted to RTF at any time so long as you have the particular program. The problem is that BookShare's documentation requests books in ARK and KES. The reasons were good at the time, but anymore are seen as hindering the validation process. It would be nice if the docs were updated and excluded the requests for ARK and KES.

Can Ark and KES be changed to rtf after being scanned
but before being submitted? Maybe bookshare's rules
should be changed to require, rather than merely
suggest that all books be submitted as rtf. Just
asking

Actually Monica and I and a few others validated a
bunch of ark files a
couple of months ago. I think at 1 point there was
only about 15 books left.
Then another slew of ark books showed up. We just
can't keep up. The books
seem to be either text books or religious ones. So
they don't always appeal
to me.
If anyone has any requests for a particular kes or
ark book let me know I
will try to validate it sometime next week.
