I just saw Carrie had put in Kate Seredy's "The Good Master," a Newbery
award winner. This was a childhood favorite of mine and I owned a hardbound
illustrated copy for years. The sequel is also wonderful. Carrie, I just
added a review that gives more of the history of the story--it takes place
in pre-Hungarian revolution Czarist Hungary and just prior to World War 1.
The history and delightful story are for all ages, not just children (like
so many Newbery award winners). I also noted the sequel, The Singing Tree,
which I hope you'll add. It takes place during the world war.
