Dog ownership is like a rainbow.
Puppies are the joy at one end.
Old dogs are the treasure at the other.

World Of Information Available With EMC Captiva QuickScan Pro

High speed document imaging is typically utilized in business departments to
increase efficiency and speed laborious paper-based processes. However,
individuals can also apply capture software in unique ways to find creative
solutions to daily challenges and stay connected to the information needed
to do their jobs.

Challenge: Imaging Piles of Books

Kyle Bergum is legally blind and works as Group Manager of Operations at
Microsoft where he is responsible for a portfolio of services within the
corporate IT department. As part of his role at Microsoft, Kyle reads - with
the help of a computer application that reads text aloud - a range of
printed research materials in various formats including books, journals,
printed documents and other references. There are many times when Kyle
utilizes multiple reference materials in his job function and each reference
can often range from 300 to 1000 pages.

To assist in his reading and research, Kyle uses a document capture solution
to transform paper reference materials into electronic images so a special
computer application can then magnify the images and read them aloud. A
typical solution utilizing a flatbed scanner, scanning one to two pages at a
time simply would not be practical: It could take many days to scan a
reference material that is 300 pages or more and the quality would be
impacted as well.

Fortunately, Kyle discovered a solution to his challenge ... document
capture with EMC Captiva QuickScan Pro.
