Hi Volunteers,

When the Friends of Bookshare Community Room was opened, there was a steady
stream of friends hanging out, chatting, and occasionally important
one-on-one scanning and validating training was provided. Newbies to
Bookshare.org and long-time members were finding that voice chat provided
valuable personal interaction with others also interested in helping
Bookshare.org grow and prosper. It was not unusual to find someone in the
room almost any time during the day and evening. That all was way cool
because that was the exact reason the Friends of Bookshare was formed.

However, when Tuesday evenings were designated as a two-hour time for
special events and the various book clubs were established, it seemed
somehow a message was sent that nothing else was to happen in the room.
Believe me, there is nothing further from the truth. The Community Room is
open 24/7 and that means lots of time can be devoted to unstructured totally
free activities. My role in all of this is merely to provide the online
virtual conferencing software - nothing more.

Please consider this a personal invitation to each of you to stop in
whenever your schedule will permit. You are encouraged to invite others to
join you. Remember, the room can accommodate a big crowd and the cost to me
is the same as it is when the room is empty.

The Holiday Season is an excellent time to chat about many things. Maybe you
need some gift ideas, want to play some music you particularly enjoy, want
to share that scrumptious melt-in-the-mouth recipe, play a game or two,
share crochet or knitting patterns, discuss the weather, or whatever friends
do when they get together. In other words, let's use the room the way
friends would use their Great or recreational room to enjoy and strengthen
friendships.

Who can the group count on to make this all happen? Just decide among
yourselves and surprise me.

Let's pass the word around that we really are a community and everyone is
welcome!
