Welcome, Nolan, and join the club. There are quite a few of us who, like you, are perfectionists and read the books we download for validation, so they really are in Excellent condition when uploaded. And you don't have to feel guilty (or was that someone else) to keep renewing a book. It's impossible to finish validating a book, especially if it's long, in a week, in my opinion, especially when people are living their lives, with work, families, etc. I think most people feel that the quality of the book when it's finally uploaded makes the wait worthwhile. As far as any order of the list goes, I may be wrong, but I think it's just as books get submitted. When a book gets submitted it goes instantly to the download list. I've submitted books people have requested and written to them directly to tell them and by the time they get to the list to download the book is already gone. Some books may stay up there because no one is interested in validating them. I admit I prefer validating books I expect to enjoy reading, though I have done a couple that I haven't enjoyed much because they needed my sight to fix, or I've expected to like the book more than I did. In that case, sometimes Ijust spell-check and make sure the pagination is correct, which I'm sure must allow some errors to get by. I also validate carefully, i.e., read, my books before submitting them. If you do that and a book of yours seems to be staying on the download list too long, you can download it yourself and then upload it; or if you haven't validated it and it's been there too long, download it and validate it yourself.
