Marissa,

Your theory is absolutely correct. I downloaded the braille versions of
three recently added Spanish titles. Each of them show signs that they were
translated into grade 2 English and not into Spanish Braille. It is
absolutely confusing for someone expecting Spanish braille. It uses dot
4, as in English Braille, to depict accented letters; but uses contractions
that would be used in English Grade 2 braille.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need me to check out anything else.

Hi Pratik,

You're wonderful.

The issue is apparently this:

"just wanted to alert you to a problem I'm finding with the Spanish books
I'm seeing on bookshare. When these books are converted to BRF files,
English grade 2 contractions should not be used. A monolingual Spanish
speaker would not be able to read the current BRF versions of books as these
contractions are not used in Spanish."

I just need confirmation that these books are using English grade 2
contractions rather than Spanish grade 1, so we can correct the problem and
possibly reprocess the books. Or, that the books are fine and that they're
in Spanish Braille already.

Any help you can provide would be great.

Best,

Marissa

Hi Folks,

I urgently need to get in touch with someone who reads Spanish Braille. If
you or someone else you know reads Spanish Braille, can you please get in
touch with me?

Best,

Marissa
