O.k. not sure how many people would actually benefit from this. But will
through it out there just in case. I use my Braillenote QT to edit book
files that I have scanned. After running a few tests on them in Kurzweil
itself using the rank spelling and the like. I want perfection in the books
I share with students and with Bookshare.

Anyway, I was running into a problem. Some files, mainly those over 400
pages large weren't opening on the Braillenote. I should say .rtf files
that are that size weren't opening.

But... I have now discovered, that if I... open the saved .rtf from kurzweil
into Word. hit a space, and then delete it, then save the file. I can now
open the files on the Braillenote with no problems. I have now opened a
file that was 749 pages, and I will soon have a few files larger than that
to edit. So I am going to see how far I can go.

But it is an interesting tidbit of information.

It also appears that the file size shrinks when saved in word.

Not sure why.

But wanted to through it out there for anyone interested.

Another application could be for textbooks where you want to maintain
formatting. I have a few and have hesitated scanning and editing them,
because of the size issue, guess I don't have any excuses.

The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to
stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.
