Many thanks,Lori and Curtis.
I'm the proofreader. I spend a lot of time describing illustrations in
the books I proof; I'm afraid I sometimes go into too much detail and
have been thinking I should cease and desist, but your note assures me
that a blind reader like you appreciates them and that they add to your
enjoyment of the book I must also thank and credit Susan Lumpkin for
editing my descriptions which sometimes get too wordy, and sometimes being
sighted I assumes something and use a word for a thing and Susan catches
that a blind person doesn't know what the thing is to whjch I'm referring
I'm so I have to describe i rather than simply name it. The "Medal of
Honor" is an example, as is one of the pieces of sculpture in the book
about Medal of Honor winners. ( and what's the book about raining
spaghetti and meatballs? anyway, thank you for helping me to know that the
descriptions add to a blind reader's enjoyment of a book; I'll keep on
doing them
Cindy
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I heard an interview with the author on KGO radio when the book was
published.
I scanned it for Bookshare and to my disappointment, the scan had many
difficulties. I don't recall precisely what they were but recall having to
remove many extraneous characters and ultimately needed a sighted
proofreader to make sure all formatting was correct.
Grandma Cindy volunteered to proofread my scan and added picture
descriptions.
The radio interview was as fascinating as the book.
Glad to know someone enjoyed this book as much as I did.
Lori C.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] "Timmy's in the Well," the John Provost story!
this book! What a significantly FINE job you've done! This scan is
magnificent, and whomever it was, cared about the blind reader's
viewpoint since there were pictures integrated in such a way that we
could truly follow the pages' containing them and why.
My friend gave me the print book which I scanned, but then thought I'd
take a look and behold! there it is on BookShare lovingly produced.
THANKS again whomever it was!
