Evan, I had to leave the equations as they were. While I'm aware of Kurzweil's theories and could've put them in, I didn't feel as though I would be able to do justice. I'll eventually get the RFBD version or the NLS version, when it's available, and use the audio to verify them. I'll resubmit another version. How did you handle the equations in the Appendix. I don't imagine they came out very well. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pratik Patel <mailto:pratikp1@xxxxxxxxx> To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 1:41 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: The Singularity Is Near (was Re: Re: words split across pages) Evan, Parts of this book were quite unworkable because of charts and graphs. I worked on the main body and the notes section but was unable to salvage the index section. Actually, I didn't work much on that section at all. I uploaded it this morning. At the rate Gustavo is going, it should be in the collection in the next few days. Despite the highly scientific nature of this book, K1K ended up giving a 99.31 rating in the end. Had I ignored all the scientific terminology with rank spelling, it would've given it a much higher rating. Basically I read the thing through almost from cover to cover. Enjoy reading it. I read RFB&D's version, and I have a feeling that this would be a huge job. Are you going to do the vast Notes section? Also, are you planning to do the index? I guess I could understand if you decided that it was too much work, not being core content and all, but I really hope you will. It is a fabulous book, which as I said, I read from RFB&D, but I really look forward to a searchable version with Notes and Index if you are willing to do it. You have my admiration for taking on this big job, but I believe that this book is worth the large amount of work necessary to get it into excellent shape. Thanks.
