Hi, Laura Ann. I just sent you an email off-list about your scans. I don't own Kurzweil, so I hope you can take my feedback and apply it to your software. I don't know why, but I had it in mind that you were using Openbook like I am. You're doing a great job with your submissions to Bookshare. K1000 missed some of the errors because they were real words. The word die instead of the is one such example. There were also a lot of apostrophe and capital i characters sprinkled in the text that K1000 thought were part of sentences. That's something a machine just can't fix for us, at least not yet. I can tell you for sure that it had nothing to do with your positioning of the book on the scanner and doubt that it had anything to do with pressing down firmly. I think that either the contrast needed some tweaking, or that the book itself has a slightly different font from most books. You're doing a great job. Even long-time Bookshare submitters scan some books that don't come out well at first. Well, all but Kellie and Gerald. They are, of course, all knowing and all wise. <giggle> I think that good scanning is like good cooking... it takes practice and experience to become a master. Please remind me of this when I submit my next scan, ok?

hi, I am sorry you had to work on it.
I don't understand why it didn't scan in better.

If you have any suggestions for me I am open to them.
or anyone here.
I am using Kursweil latest version.
Optmizing the settings on each book.
scanning and recognizing now.

set to 98 % acuracy in kursweil
pressing down hard.

that book and some others have been hard back from the library so maybe that's it. not sure.

I am having fun adding to the collection though.

Whoever is validating Ezeikiel option if your here would you email me off list.

I noticed the Last sacrifice and The Last Diciple also had a fare rating but think its due to the many greek names and symbols.
I don't know that it could have been done better they were also hard back and large.

Thank you for your hard work.

I am validating your Jim Simbala book.
