Hey, Sue, clutter away. What you say is interesting. There are many
types of science fiction. I particularly like that which deals with
anthropological, sociological, psychological stuff. Have a story about
the effects of a particular invention and its effects on a culture, or
how society changes because of certain sociological conditions, that
sort of story grabs my attention. I'm not so much interested in straight
military stuff or expository blocks of writing dealing with physics or
computers. If the story is good and I can identify with the characters,
that is what I really enjoy reading. Regards, Kim.

Bob, I haven't been a science fiction buff, but your enthusiasm is
making me
wonder if I am missing out on some great reads!

Oops, sorry, cluttering up the list again! (smile)

Sue S.

Okay, "origin of the Phoenix" is in the hands of "a bookshare
administrator". Of course this merry group of mischief makers might find
some nit picking ministrivia to delay your enjoyment of the book. But,
when you do get a chance, please read it. It's a really good science
fiction book.

Thanks, as always, to Deborah Murrey for an excellent scan.

Thanks.
Bob

Sorry gang I grabbed this one. I'll try to get it in the collection
pretty quickly. I just couldn't help myself.

Looks like another long night, but one filled with disastrous science
fiction.

Bob

Hi all,

I've just submitted for proofing "Guardians of the Phoenix" by Eric
Brown.

It's been read through w/errors corrected, headers stripped, chapter
titles/page numbers present, text/heading fonts formatted. 436 pages. I
suggest removing the "adult" rating.

Description:
Global warming has taken its terrible toll. The seas have dried up and
deserts cover much of the Earth's surface. Humankind has been
annihilated by drought and the nuclear and biological conflicts
following the Great Breakdown. Desperate bands of humans still survive.
Some live far underground, away from the searing temperatures and
ongoing conflicts on the surface; others scrape a living in the remains
of shattered cities above ground. In Paris, Paul lives like an animal
among the sand-drifted ruins of the once great city. Near death, he
faces a choice: join the strangers heading south in search of water, or
remain in the city and perish. Guardians of the Phoenix tells the story
of the last survivors on planet Earth, their desperate fight for
survival and their last hope to save the world.

Deborah
