Hi Roger,
Very interesting! I was unaware of this old feature of the book submission
form. I will check into this on our end. Thanks so much for your scan! It must
be a good one, considering how quickly it was grabbed for proofing. <smile>
Best,
Amanda

Yeah, someone grabbed it. I was afraid that because of the strange behavior
when I uploaded it I might have uploaded a blank file or the wrong file. I
suppose if I did that it will be rejected and I will try again. The upload
process used to have a feature that would have helped me with that. It used to
be that when uploading a book there was a link to a list of words that the
Bookshare dictionary flagged as misspelled. Most of the words on the list were
proper names or other words that were unique to the book and if I checked that
list and recognized those words unique to that book I would know that I had
definitely uploaded the right file. That was taken away for some reason and I
miss it.

By the way, I forgot about the email that Bookshare sends us when we
upload a book. Since I sent the below message I was going through my
email and came across that. So, at least according to the automatic
email from Bookshare, I did successfully upload the book. But I still
feel a bit uneasy about it.

Something strange happened that makes me wonder if I did it right.
When I upload a book here is how I always do it and how it always
works. I click the browse button. I am taken to a dialog where the
field I land on is labeled file name and it is empty. I then tab
through the dialog and use combo boxes where appropriate to find and
select the book I am uploading. Then I tab again and I am back on that
field labeled file name that I started on, now the field is filled in
with my book title. I then tab to the button labeled open and click
that and I am back on the Bookshare page with the browse button and I
can proceed through the rest of the process. This time, however, it
worked a bit differently. After I selected the book I tabbed once more
and there was the file name field, but it was not filled in this time.
I felt a bit bothered by that, but I proceeded to the open button and
went ahead. Now I am wondering if I really uploaded the book. I wonder
if I accidentally uploaded an empty file or if I uploaded something
other than the book I intended or if I uploaded anything. I know it
often takes a while before an uploaded book appears on the checkout
list. So I took some time to do other things before I checked and when
I did check it was neither on the checkout list nor in my scans in
process. Okay, sometimes it takes a long time. But I am still
wondering if I did something wrong. So I have two questions. First,
does anyone here know from the description of what happened from what
I have just described if I did something wrong and if so do I have to
upload it again? Second, If no one can answer the first question can
someone download the book once it appears on the checkout list, if it
ever does, and whether you want to proofread it or not, just check to
see if I have uploaded the right book or if I have uploaded anything?
