I don't know if this will help, but you might open the book in Wordpad save
it, then open again in Word--if that is the program you use for
proofreading.
Keep a second copy of the book in case this does not work.
Opening the book in Wordpad and saving it will retain page breaks, but
section breaks and column breaks should disappear.
However, I personally think that a submitter needs to submit a book without
these issues. I hate to reject books that are submitted with these issues,
but I will not proofread them.
I think Bookshare should have certain standards about submitting a book;
maybe they do as things change so often.
Also, we worked together a number of years on several books, and I hope you
are doing well.

There are some books I would like to proof read on the check out list,
but I have no idea how to go about it. I know that they can be done,
because I did see one make it to the new books section once.
The trouble is that they have multiple section breaks per page, and are
written in columns. When there are scannos and such, which do appear,
any correction causes other messes, such as other letters being erased
to compensate for the additional letter, in the case of changing D to cl
or tl, which both happen.
I know it's a lot to ask, but could or would someone please give me some
ideas how to handle such a book?
