Julie: I think Natasha may be right. Firewall and anti-ad software has been
known to conflict with actions such as these. If you don't have any software
like that running, please write me offline at volunteer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and we'll
work it out.

Julie,
You're not using Norton Personal Firewall on the laptop by any chance are you?
I have that problem when i have Norton personal firewall enabled. i always
have to disable it to download books for validation and also when i need to
upload or renew.
If you're not running a Norton Personal Firewall then it might be some other
security setting specific to the laptop. That's what immediately comes to mind
anyway.

That reminds me, while i'm discussing this little issue with Norton... anybody
know if there's a way to keep the personal firewall enabled and still be able
to renew/upload books and download books for validation?? I'm relatively new
to using Norton's Firewall so i'd appreciate any tips.
