Greetings, list members,
I'm new to the list--joined Thursday, the 20th--and had my first book
ultimately approved and posted in Bookshare Nirvana or whatever you call
that state of ultimate bliss and oneness with the digital book
universe--you know the one--the one where people can download and read what
you scanned. :-)
I also saw that the first book I validated is now up and ready for
reading. I'm doing my second validation now.
The whole validation thing is a most interesting process for me. The
long-time editor in me won't let me just do a quick ho-hum glance through a
book. In fact, I probably spend more time with them than I ought to--kind
of sick and twisted, some would argue. :-) I truly enjoy the validation
process though. I've deliberately downloaded titles I wouldn't ordinarily
gravitate to. It really is kind of fun.
And of course, submitting books is great fun as well. My daughter gave me
a subscription to Bookshare for Easter, and I'm a bit surprised that I
would actually enjoy doing more than merely downloading other's work.
Enough of my ranting. I look forward to being part of the list. As a
reader, let me say thanks to all of you for all you do in terms of getting
books scanned, validated, and ultimately posted. As a fellow submitter and
validator, I'm honored to be among you.
