Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Need help getting two great scans of books proofread

Hi all,

Gary P. asked for my help in find proofreaders for two books that
have been sitting on the checkout list, one since January and the
second since May. He'd really like to get these into the
collection. I can't take them on myself, because right now I'm
having some additional physical problems that are limiting any
time I can spend using my computer.

However, I downloaded both books to look at them, (and then
released them back to the checkout queue) as Gary was worried
there was some problem with them that was stopping them from
getting proofread. Both books are truly excellent scans, with no
scanning problems.

The first is "The Wolfman" by Johnathan Maberry, and should be a
straightforward proof. It's a novelization of the 2010 version of
the horror movie, The Wolfman. It's 345 pages long.

The second is a super nice scan of a history book, "The Real
George Washington (American Classic Series) by Andrew M. Allison
and Jay A. Parry. It's really big (almost 1000 pages), but the
great quality of the scan should make this book straightforward
to proofread. Also, the content on each page isn't large; it's
more like the amount of text per page that you'd find in a trade
paperback. The main thing a proofreader is going to have to do is
strip running headers and look though it for minor scannos. The
book has footnotes, but all the footnote numbers scanned
correctly from what I see and the footnotes themselves are
published grouped together in pages at the back of the book,
instead of at the bottoms of pages, making it much easier to
proofread.

If you can help Gary out, it would be really appreciated! smile.
Both books are currently on the checkout list.
