It's my understanding that it is.  I asked Gustavo some time back about
books published and/or copyrighted outside of the country, and from what I
recall, he said as long as the book is scanned in the U.S., it's OK.

When Eight Bells Toll by Alistair Maclean is printed in Britain, copyrighted

in Britain. It has been done here, but not this edition. Is it acceptable? 
Its last copyright was 1974.
