Your description, as written, is excellent.

I'm pretty sure the strikeout key wouldn't translate into anything meaningful in the braille file, and am not sure about the daisy file.

But, the description, should be apparent to anyone reading the book.

Carrey and I recently encountered a similar problem in a science fiction book. The page was a reproduction of a newspaper page, and didn't scan at all.

We put in something like, "[scanner's note: this page is....]"

Hope this helps.

Yes, that's clear, at least to me. Or---can you use
the strikeout key? If so, would the strike-out be
retained when converted by bookshare?

The very first page of this book consists of Captain
Jack Sparrow's log entry, which is supposed to be
handwritten. It doesn't scan well at all, but
that's not my issue; I got a sighted person to read
it to me. My question is this: In one part of the
text, a name is written, crossed out, and replaced
with something else. How do I convey that in my
submission without spoiling the joke? What I've
currently done is this:

"[The power of the sword] ... will soon be in the
hands of the Mighty Captain Ja [crossed out]
Barnacle's crew."

"Captain Ja" is the portion that was crossed out.
Is that obvious given the way I've presented it, and
if not, how do you suggest I represent that?
Thanks.
