Hi Chris. With all the work you went through to get that book in order, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll; perhaps some other validator is willing to take it on.
However, thanks for a job-well-done. You have more patience than I do. Bob----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Hofstader" <cdh@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

All, I have been hopelessly defeated by the book about Drupal 6.0 that I hadscanned and attempted to process over the past five or six weeks. The otherbook I did took a little time to scan, spell check and it was validated in about 2 days. With a lot of help from Jim and Jackie, I can still not get the Drupal book into a state in which it will pass the validation process. First, I had the issues with section breaks which some kind soul helped me fix. The problem with MS Word and text boxes, though, continues and theJAWS keystrokes that Jim and Maria sent didn't work properly. In fact, the one that Maria sent announced that there were more than 4300 objects in thedrawing layer but that JAWS was only able to move 9 to the text area.I have been able to get this book into readable .rtf but without acceptablepage breaks. I must admit that whatever it is that Word is doing hasdefeated me. A lot of the work I get paid to do is writing, I love MS Wordas it is, in my opinion, the most powerful writing tool (way beyond word processor) ever to make it to my desktop. I've been using Word since version 3.0 for DOS back in 1986 and it has always served me very well. Iguess it saved up all of the frustrations I've heard from other people aboutMS Word and decided to hit me with this ton of bricks all at once.I have the file in TIFF, OPD (rev. 15) and RTF. If anyone wants to continuethis battle, I will send it to you in whatever format you prefer. I also have it in RTF without proper page breaks so anyone who just wants to readthe book can write to me offline and I can send that copy to them directly. Thanks, cdh Chris Hofstader CUNY, BSO, ATG, Odds and Ends email: cdh@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Blog: http://www.blindconfidential.blogspot.com Skype: BlindChristian phone: 727-896-6393 -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Maria Kristic Sent: Sunday, July 20, 2008 6:41 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Text Boxes... I think you're looking for CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+C? That command attempts to moveobjects from the drawing layer to the text layer. In order for JAWS to thenbe able to detect these objects in the text layer, if the move wassuccessful as reported once the above command is pressed, enable the Pictureand Graphical Objects Detection option in the Adjust JAWS Options dialog/INSERT+V. CTRL+SHIFT+O displays a list of Inline objects. Hi Chris, See what happens if you try to use the JAWS command to bring them into the text layer. I don't remember the key stroke. It may be something like Control+Shift+O. Thanks.
