Hi Valerie, My guess is that they won't look like em dashes. My screen reader shows two hyphens, not the other thing that I see when there is an em dash. Sorry! But our braille readers will never have to see a hyphen again where there should have been an em dash! That made for truly annoying reading, at least it was annoying to me. And I couldn't stand the idea that children might think that an em dash and a hyphen are the same thing. Talk about opposites! So happy! But sorry you can't have your em dashes. How about pretending you're reading typing from an old type writer? Those didn't have em dashes either! Just trying to help, offer some consolation. Yippee! I wonder if they will still look like em dashes to sighted readers; that would be sweet! Anything that makes life simpler is appreciated, although that one is now almost second hand to me. I don't know if all of you have discovered this, but I just did recently. New folks won't be as interested, but any of you old-timers like me who have been converting em dashes in your rtf files to two hyphens can now stop! The braille translator now knows how to process em dashes properly! I've checked and rechecked, so this isn't a false alarm! One less thing to worry about! Hope I'm not the only one who is insanely thrilled with little progresses like this! Happy scanning and proofreading to all of you, and happy, happy New Year! I'm a huge fan of fresh starts, so this upcoming holiday is one of my favourites.
