Dornetta, you should be able to just left and right arrow either from the
cursor cross or the num pad to hear character by character. You can use
insert-left and insert-right arrow to move by word or control left and
control right arrow in word to do so.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Having troubles with proofreading with JAWS

Hello List!
I am having some serious trouble with proofreading with JAWS. I have already
done the "preliminary" editing but for reason I cannot get JAWS to read
lines or read by word or character so that I can correct some of the words
that are hypenated to the next page (that ad-dress word for example). I have
done a c&p into a word document hoping that this will help me in the editing
process but no luck. So, can anyone assist me with this situation? Have any
of you came across this same situation? and if so, what did you do?
Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we
are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened
about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are
all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory
of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And
as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission
to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others."-Mariann Williamson
