Welcome, Vanessa! I look forward to working with you and your colleagues to go
forward with our common goal, to get books into the hands of the blind and
dyslexic.
The only comment I have at this point is a technical one. My e-mail is on
Yahoo, and the single quotes in your e-mails are shopwing up as

Dear Bookshare Volunteers,
It's great to officially e-meet all of you. I’m Vanessa and I’m the new
Communities Manager. I was the Community Engagement Fellow for the past
several months and have been amazed with the work of the Bookshare community.
I've heard great things about many of you from Madeleine. We appreciate the
great work that our volunteers have contributed to make Bookshare a success.
Your work has helped to make Bookshare the largest online accessible library in
the world and ultimately transform lives through this much needed resource.
I’m excited to be able to work with you to help further the reach of
Bookshare.
We have had some organizational changes at Benetech/Bookshare and the Volunteer
Coordinator position was eliminated. With the changes that have been made, we
now have a team of three staff, including myself to support the work that our
community members do for Bookshare and Benetech. I'll be sending out an email
in the next week or two introducing the new team.
As Kristina mentioned, Madeleine’s last day at Benetech will be Friday, and
we hope you would take some time (if you already haven’t) to wish her well.
Madeleine has done a tremendous amount of work to get the Bookshare Volunteer
Program to where it is today. She has been documenting and sharing the work
she has been doing with all of you to ensure a smooth transition. Please be
patient with us as we work through the kinks of the transition and get up to
speed on the nuts and bolts of the work you do for Bookshare. I understand
that this may be a difficult transition for many of you. Please feel free to
contact me directly with any concerns you may have about the transition.
In the meantime, if you have general volunteering questions, email
volunteer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx directly. We will have several people checking the
volunteer email account, so it is the best place to get the quickest response.

Kelly, I am wondering the same thing. I can't imagine Bookshare without
Madeleine. It appears they have scrapped the volunteer coordinator job in their
new "initiative".
