There is a group for knitters, crocheters and I think other crafters.

It is a Google group called "blindstitchers".

There is one by the NFB, but it's all different crafts. I agree I would join
the list, because I really want to know how to crochet.

Jamie Yates is a great knitter and as a sighted scanner, did several
knitting books over the years, interpreting patterns and graphics. I wish I
were a better knitter and more motivated, but to me they are tougher than
cookbooks and I struggle with cookbooks and making them as close to perfect
as I can. I know Jamie does very little scanning now, but maybe she would
take some specific requests from time to time.

Hope that helps!

Hi Kim.
Some books are useful, and some are not. No way to tell except by
downloading some. NLS has quite a few, too.
I am totally blind, and I'm a good knitter, and I'm re-learning crochet.
I've also made bead jewelry. I've learned a lot from books, though I
found
it useful in the beginning to get a lesson from an experienced person
hands-on.
If I can advise, my email is carcione@xxxxxxxxxx.
Maybe we should start a blind knitting list or something.

Hi, I've been finding all manner of books on spinning, weaving, knitting,
crocheting, and jewelry-making from bead stringing to using polymer
clays.
What I don't know is if they would be useful for someone like me who
would
like to know how to make jewelry but who is totally blind. Are these
books
accessible? I don't know how I'd learn anything from photographs or
charts.
I'm also curious how other blind folks learned how to do various crafts.
I
have no idea if this is an acceptable topic for this particular list, but
thought I'd pose the question anyway in hopes I get some cogent answers.
Regards, Kim Friedman.
