I was at the Camp Catalpa side of Lake Reba this morning (Richmond, Madison County) and noticed that the swallows were back skimming for food. There was a good mix of barn and tree swallows. Also, two pair of wood ducks hanging around, one pair perched high atop some catalpa trees in the park. A few mallards, the resident geese, coots, and 2 pairs of ringneck ducks rounded out the waterfowl. Passerines were also active, with several small flocks of golden-crowned kinglets seen, along with yellow-rumped warblers and one brown creeper. I was there for non-birding reasons this morning, so neglected to bring my binoculars, but still a good day overall.
