The gull was still at the Beach yesterday afternoon. Those of you who are not familiar with this species, like us, would do well to study the pictures David posted online. We found the bird by scanning through the crowd and checking each bird's bill. All the ring-billed gulls present had black on their bills, but the mew gull's is pale yellow. Once you find the bird, the bill shape, body shape, and wing spot pattern are easy to discern. The trick is finding it in the first place! Thanks to Dave for sharing this bird and his pictures.
