If we could just motivate Maxwell House to mold the container with grooves for a metal T post ... This morning I found a Bluebird nest with 3 eggs in the one I put up about a month ago. All I did was cut an entrance hole in the upper corner opposite the handle, drill some drain holes in the bottom and drill a hole in the handle to bolt it to a metal upright salvaged from a piece of junk farm machinery. With only one bolt holding it to its upright, I had trouble at first with the cows nudging it sideways while sniffing it to see what it was. Not having a second hole in the metal upright to run a bolt through, I wrapped wire around the bottom of the handle and the metal upright to keep it in place. Soon after making this adjustment, I saw some nest material in the container. Since I'm about out of scrap metal for uprights, I may invest in some PVC pipe if I decide to make bird houses out of all the coffee containers we have accumulated. With PVC uprights, I can use two bolts to fasten the handle to the pipe. I noticed an interesting thing about these containers just now while writing this post. They're all exactly the same size, but the oldest one had 39 oz. of coffee in it, newer ones had 34.5 oz. and the newest one had 33 oz. All of them say there is enough for 270 cups. I suppose they mean 270 incrementally smaller cups.
