Jennifer and I birded the western Ky. area from April 4-6. While there experiencing almost golf ball size hail, a tornado warning and downpour of rain all mostly at Lake # 9 area. Roads to Swan Pond and the Obion area were under water. Some of the highlights were: wood ducks gadwall american wigeon 2 at long point blue wing teal green wing teal shovlers hooded mergs. northern bobwhite 8 at Barkley Dam area common loons many scattered throughout Ky and Barkley lakes white pelicans 275+ at barkley dam area and 56 at Ky. dam snowy egret 1 at roads 94 and 1282 area on April 5th cattle egret 1 Lake # 9 area April 5th sandhill cranes 30 fly over in Hickman area golden plovers 15+ at Kough and Brown Rd. greater yellowlegs lesser yellowlegs least sandpiper pect's snipe bonaparte gull 50 at Barkley dam, honker bay- 42 possible many more off in the distance caspian terns eur. collared dove all woodpeckers fish crow horned lark blue gray gnatcatchers Warblers: parula yellow at Travis WMA yellow rump black throated green yellow throated la. waterthrush Eddie Huber
