Late each afternoon, Alison and I walk up a stretch of Wash Gunn Road to a point a little short of the first house with a bad dog. For at least a week now, over a strip of road about half way to our turnaround, there have been increasing numbers of swallows, mostly Rough-winged. Yesterday, so many were perched on one span of power line, I decided to take a photo and count them later. I couldn't get even half of them in side on, so I walked to where they all fit into one frame. That made them merge together, but by zooming in, I could count feet. I counted 152 swallows, 1 Mourning Dove and 1 Mockingbird. All the nearby ones I saw were Rough-winged. We also regularly encounter 3 different pairs of Blue Grosbeaks on our walk. Captured one with a bug yesterday. 2 new pics here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/123438032@N04/ Frank Lyne frank@xxxxxxxxxxx - near Dot in Logan County, KY ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============= When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
