100% chance of rain forecast.
45º overcast. Rain finally started at 9:15
Lots of water from a very high Ohio River; partially over 268 before
getting to the Sloughs and 268 is completely covered at 268 slough
and closed. Access via 316 from Smith Mills impossible due to water
over the road.
I got there before the gates were open so I parked and walked in.
I visited Gentle Pond area and Wood Tract.
Highlights:
Pied-billed Grebe
only geese seen were Canadas
Mallards
Black Ducks
Green-winged Teal
Blue-winged Teal
Am. Widgeon
Shoveler
Wood Ducks
Ring-necked Ducks
Com. Goldeneye
Hooded Merganser
Red-tailed Hawk
Bald Eagle sitting on the nest
Am. Coots
Lesser Yellowlegs 7
E. Phoebe
Tree Swallows 2
Golden Crowned Kinglet 1
Fox Sparrow
