15 May 2010: This afternoon I was able to scan several ponds between Mosley's Pond and the Todd County line, just east of Allensville, but in Logan County along KY 102. Mosley's Pond is "overflowed" and numerous transient ponds ranging in size from an acre to about 15 acres exist. However, shorebirds are not common and widely scattered. Luckily, they are mostly surrounded by planted corn rather than wheat so visibility at least exists. Observed this afternoon were: 2 Blue-winged Teal, ~20 Canada Goose (including 4 Goslings), 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, and 1 Dunlin. That concludes this report.
