A male Western Tanager has been coming to a feeder in St. Matthews part of
Louisville since Sunday. It is still present (photographed) this morning. Carol
Besse fielded original note to Beckham Bird Club, I think.
The host is welcoming us to come see the bird, but currently suggesting we need
to watch from inside the house. This presents something of an issue for a first
"chaseable" state record and overwhelming the host. Currently trying to work
out something of a schedule for visiting.
If anyone wants to try for the bird with a few of us early this afternoon,
contact me off listserv; otherwise watch for follow-up post to BIRDKY. Bird is
apparently coming every couple of hours so it will probably be a wait for most.
Not sure how late in the day it has been coming, but will establish that after
noon.
