Five of us birded the Camp Mines in Union County yesterday. Water had come up substantially in most of the ponds,but still had 14 spp of shorebirds highlighted by a Marbled Godwit ... yet another good bird that Tom Becker happened to "stumble upon" while the rest of us scanned oblivious to it. Other highlights were at least 28 American Golden-Plovers (maybe twice that), 11 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, 8 Short-billed Dowitchers, 2 Western Sandpipers, and a Sanderling. The four Sandhill Cranes mentioned by Charlie in earlier post must certainly be the ones reported off and on during July and early August over in Webster County by Alan Gehret and others. Blue-winged Teal were on the move with at least 940 tallied between three sites. bpb (with Tom & Colleen Becker, Eddie Huber, Charlie Crawford), Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
