I had a good afternoon of birding at the Fish Hatchery on Sunday. The birds I observed were similar to those in my recent post about the EKBC meeting last weekend, but there were a few notable species to add: Lesser Yellowlegs (about a dozen in a flock) Common Loon (on Cave Run Lake) Swamp, Field and Savannah Sparrows One of my personal highlights was an Osprey that perched in a snag in front of a tree in blazing fall colors by the oxbow lake. I tried to take a few digital photos through my scope; I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but if they came out as well as I think they did, I may use the image for wallpaper on my computer!
