Hiked the rural stream and treelines of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School's property with some of my science students for the Great Backyard Bird Count. Surrounded by farms on three sides, in the past I have seen Kingfishers, hawks, killdeer, and other birds that I don't usually see in Lexington. We had 9 students and 2 teachers. We had a slow start but later on had a good look at a Northern Flicker and a calling RWBB. Just glad to get some students outside after school in the cold to learn about birds.
