Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007: A brief visit to the South Shore WMA in Greenup County provided a slow motion-like view of a raptor chase. An osprey flew over first carrying a fish. While watching the osprey, a second large bird came into view out of the corner of my eye. An adult bald eagle was slowly trailing the osprey. A couple hundred yards beyond the WMA boundary, the eagle caught up with the osprey and proceeded to harass the osprey but it did not drop the fish. A harrier was present on the WMA hunting low over the fields. Scott Freidhof Rowan County
