Pine warblers are lovely birds, I recall a feeder tray about full of them (7-8)
under a pine stand at Lake Beshear about this time of the year several years
ago at Marvin Russell's lake home. The warblers were enjoying Marvin's suet
cakes. I was comparing the magnification effects between 7 and 8 power binocs
at about 15 ft. using the perfect lighting on the colorful warblers.

watched one singing at the Barren River State Park golf course, while he was
perched next to a pair of Bluebirds, who remained silent.
By the way, there has been 9 reports of Purple Martins in Kentucky now, so good
spring weather is just around the corner.

I sat in a silent woods at Crappie Hollow this afternoon at dusk. Not
enough breeze to cause the brown leafless branches to rustle. About 50
American Pelicans were nestled together as only they can out beyond
the mudflat. Gulls were silently making their way somewhere to roost.
Then it sang once, then again, and again from high in the pines, a
Pine Warbler. To quote my favorite from Emily Dickinson, "Hope is a
thing with feathers" and especially when it sings a solo.
