Thirteen birders enjoyed beautiful weather yesterday on the KOS/Beckham field trip to Peabody yesterday in Ohio and Muhlenberg counties. 65 species were seen/heard. Highlights were: 12 sandhill cranes low overhead hovering dark-phased rough-legged hawk hunting over a field numerous northern harriers an adult Kriders/calarus intergrade red-tail hawk flyover lapland longspur thousands of blackbirds in a field including rusty 3 short-eared owls Thanks to all those who attended, and especially to Brainard and Dave. They have an uncanny ability to find, identify, share and explain birds to the rest of us. This always makes a trip much more enjoyable and informative. Matt Stickel
