Have 2 separate 3 acre fields I didn't clip this summer. Both fields have a
thick stand of ragweeds and Iva annua. I had been just walking the clipped
margins of these fields, but since the start of new fall arrivals, I've been
picking my way out into the weeds. Not much payoff for the extra trouble so
far, except Dickcissel pictures Sunday morning and pictures of 2 Dickcissels
yesterday morning. Had hoped I was getting into rare bird territory for
lateness, but ebird didn't flag the Sunday sighting. By adding just one more
Dickcissel Monday morning, ebird did flag it. Also flagged having 3 Blue
Grosbeaks. I see the same family group at the same place each day. I had
evidence for all 2 of the Dickcissels, but ebird will have to take my word on
more than 1 Blue Grosbeak. I did get pictures, but not of more than one at a
time.
