Lauren Niemann and I did some wandering today, starting at the Parklands (with an extremely feisty Golden-crowned Kinglet, showing off his characteristic blaze) and then heading to the Ohio River. In between we drove out into Oldham County, and along the way back, we had an adult Golden Eagle fly over I-71 just west of Buckner (huge bird, entirely dark underneath, wings held nice and flat). There are still good numbers of White-winged Scoters scattered at various places. We counted seven Long-tailed Ducks out in the open off Ashland Park- I think four of them were adult males.
