Pretty fruitful day on Hematite Lake Trail/Center Furnace Trail in LBL:
(Numbers are estimates)
immature bald eagle 1
Canada goose (4 adults, 3 goslings)
solitary sandpiper?? (still not great with shorebirds!)
northern cardinal 3
American crow- also heard what sounded like a fish crow, but the American
crow has an alternate call that sounds very similar
white-throated sparrow 1
purple martin 5 (from the Nature Station's colony)
brown-headed cowbird 1
orchard oriole 1
red-winged blackbird 1
carolina chickadee 1
tufted titmouse 4
American redstart 2- this is a first for me!
common yellowthroat 3
northern parula (many!)
prothonotary warbler 6
TN warbler (many!)
yellow-throated warbler 4
blue-gray gnatchatcher (many!)
white-breasted nuthatch 2
scarlet tanager 3
summer tanager 4
carolina wren (many)
American robin 1
eastern bluebird 2
Swainson's thrush (many!! must be coming through!)
eastern kingbird 1
eastern phoebe 3
eastern wood pewee 4
great-crested flycatcher 3
red-eyed vireo 3
white-eyed vireo 3
yellow-throated vireo (many)
great blue heron 2
double-crested cormorant 2
downy woodpecker 1
pileated woodpecker 1
red-bellied woodpecker 5
(also a rough green snake, 2 water snakes, and a beaver, if anyone's
interested :)
