Hi all,
I made it down to the Land Between the Lakes area yesterday for the KOS meeting
to get an early start on the birding. I checked out several of the hotspots
near the KY Dam Village SRP and then spent the rest of day driving through LBL.
Finished the day with 110 species.
Some of the highlights include 18 species of warbler; however the only
nonresident warblers were Tennessee, Blackpoll and Palm. There was also a
couple of Willet flocks just behind the KY Dam Village lodge in both the
morning and evening. Other highlights include six Little Blue Herons at Long
Creek, a nice look at a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron about 20 feet off the road
at Cypress Creek, and a couple of male Bobolinks in breeding plumage. Finished
the day with Barred Owls and Eastern Whip-poor-wills calling near my campsite.
