It was a weekend of birding by boat both kayak and pontoon. A RUDDY TURNSTONE was the highlight on the exposed islands but shorebirds were seen arriving in small numbers. Least, Pectoral,Solitary, Spotted and Stilt Sandpipers were stopping at Blood River this morning. DC Cormorant young were squawking for food from their nests and young Osprey were watching the boats go by from their perch. Birds of interest Bald Eagle -5 Osprey - 8 (including 2 juvenile) Wood Duck Caspian tern Purple Martins - the hundreds of juvenile birds in the cypress trees at Blood River seem to have gone south on Saturday evening. Only a few birds remain today.
