We’re planning on a late dinner tonight so the wife and I were birdwatching while walking the dog a bit ago. Sure, the Alder Flycatcher (I mention while sidestepping recent email threads) that Andrew pointed out when we ran into him at Beckley the other day happened to be a lifer for us, I’m more surprised to get a Purple Finch perched on the barbed wire of the MSD facility near us. It was basically a spitting image of one away-facing males on allaboutbirds and I’ve always wondered if I’ve been missing a PF amongst the HFs that are always around, so that was a nice get for the year nonetheless, especially since I only seem to get that bird even 5-7 years it seems.
